Some of my friends are getting frustrated with things like 1/4" seams and accurate cutting of shapes but they love the idea of creating patchwork for accessories, table runners and quilts. So here is some help for them.
Square-agonals (try it and see).
Typing paper or phonebook paper blocks.
Quilt as you go. Quick and very easy.
Here's a video demonstration of the technique shown in the photos above. These strips can even be wedge shaped rather than straight strips.
Here's a video demonstration of another method of Quilt-as-you-go. You don't even have to use 1/4" seams if you don't need an accurate result as in the examples above.
Quilt as you go blocks.
Exuberant Color has some fantastic ideas. Look at some of the other pages too.
We started in 2007 with a quilt made one very rainy weekend with friends from across Sydney and across the world connected by patchwork and quilting. Our members have included quilters and novices from far and wide - NSW, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland (Australia), New Zealand, Massachusetts and Connecticut (USA), N.Ireland, Cornwall, Shropshire and Wales (UK). All our quilts are for charity, either raffled to earn money or donated directly to a nearby charity.
